Dr. Sonja M. Ehlers
Welcome to my website. I am working at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW, Germany) where I am co-leading the International Baltic Earth Secretariat. Before that, I worked at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) on Helgoland island, Germany. At the AWI, I led a microplastic monitoring project. Furthermore, I worked at the German Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG; Koblenz, Germany) where I did my PhD. I investigated marine and freshwater microplastic pollution. For my master's thesis, I studied predator nonconsumptive effects on blue mussel recruitment on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Canada.
